Several recent updates have been made to the RIGIS database:
"Soils" have been updated and retitled as "Soil Survey Geographic
(SSURGO) Soil Polygons". Please note only the attributes have been
updated (it is no longer necessary to download a separate attribute
table). These data also now sport detailed metadata and an accompanying
reference guide in pdf format, and are available with helpful symbology
(usable by ESRI software) and a reference soils database (usable by
Microsoft Access software).
"NRCS HUC 12 Drainage Basins for RI" have been updated and retitled
simply as "Watershed Boundary Dataset", reflecting the nomenclature used
by NRCS. The update itself consists of the most recent hydrologic unit
boundary data available from USDA NRCS for the subwatershed (12-digit
hydrologic unit code) level. RIDEM has contributed local watershed
names to the attribute data, which differ from some of those used by
USDA NRCS.
RIPTA Bus Routes, Bus Stops, Park & Ride Routes, and Park & Ride Bus
Stops have been updated with route and stop information effective
January 2009, and also feature updated metadata.
