If you utilize netCDF files in ArcGIS, you'll know that at times they can be a bit difficult to deal with. I found a free utility called Panoply (http://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/panoply/) which will allow you to explore a netCDF file before bringing it into ArcMap. Panoply will enable you to review the variables and time dimensions that are contained within the netCDF file and perhaps give you a better sense of what you are seeing when you open the netCDF file and work with it in ArcMap.
Panoply is the great way of organizing the files in right manner. It will help in quick searching as well at the time of requirement...
